Thanks for this report. Both this winter and last winter have been good
years for Say's Phoebes in the mid-/upper Willamette Valley.
The extremely mild temperatures so far in January must be making it easy
for phoebes and other wintering insectivores to find bugs. For the past
two weeks we've had no frost at our place north of Corvallis. Two weeks
ago I moved some tomato plants in pots back outside, and from the
forecast, it looks like I can leave them out through the end of January.
Pacific Chorus-Frogs have been in full chorus for the past week or so.
Juncos have also been singing, and yesterday I heard a Ruby-crowned
Kinglet sing its full song.

Subject: [obol] Say is that a Phoebe?
I just saw a Say’s Phoebe on Franklin Rd about .5 miles north of
Alvadore Rd where one has been previously and then another one minutes
later on Purkerson Rd by the bridge.
Seems like there is an inordinate number of Say’s Phoebes in the valley
this year.
