Today my shorebird survey group saw 6 Wilson's Phalaropes (WIPH) at the refuge. They were all in the pond that is west of the currently drained pond. There were also 3 Greater Yellowlegs in the same location. Their numbers have dropped dramatically from earlier this season when we tallied 47 on one survey. We also had our FOS Western Wood Pewee heard and saw a Hooded Merganser and her 6 chicks swimming in the water that borders on Roy Rogers road. A beautiful day with our final tally totaling 62 species. Good birding, Steve Mauvais
