He may be thinking of the eBird filters. OBOL has customs, not filters.

Kelli and I were just at Blueberry (on our way south to Roseburg) and did see
the Lapland Longspur, but no snow bunting. We met a fellow who said there had
indeed been a Gyrfalcon in the area but that OBOL has a filter to remove all
mention?
Your post seems to contradict this theory if censored emails in the list.
Or was this guy just joshing us?

The Patagonia rest area south of Tucson Az became the coinage of a name for
a place where birders went looking for such and such a rare bird, only to
find a different one. Blueberry Rd seems to have, at least temporarily,
become similar. First, someone finds a snow bunting, then someone finds a
Lapland Longspur while looking for the bunting. Then someone finds a
chestnut collared Longspur looking for the former. And others find clay
colored sparrow and American white pelicans nearby. Any predictions about
what will be seen next? Gyrfalcon? Lots of wide open spaces to scan
over....
