Jack & All,

February is often a good month to work on bird habitat restoration
projects, at least in western Oregon. The ground is usually unfrozen and
soft but native trees, shrubs, forbs and bunchgrasses are still dormant,
so it's a good time for transplanting and outplanting. 

Occasionally you can even see some cool birds while you're out there.
