Less-urban-than-Alan's Vultures...
We're on Lorane Highway in South Eugene, but IN town, and periodically
we'll discover a deceased squirrel on the road. I typically drag nearby
kills off the road into the wide spot on our triangle-shaped driveway. One
year following the deceased squirrel discovery and corresponding placement
off-road, we had 4 vultures descend for the squirrel appetizer, maybe 3
days after it was placed there...and it was starting the smell pretty rank!
Not as urban as yours, though, Alan! It was interesting to observe them
seeming to take turns at the carcass and waiting atop a nearby power pole.
