Hendrik Herlyn, Oscar Harper, Christopher and Adrian Hinkle and I birded
Fern Ridge Royal Ave. access this morning. It was pretty slow overall but
we had good raptor variety—9 species of raptors on Royal Avenue this
morning.
Turkey Vulture - 1
Bald Eagle - 1
Northern Harrier - 7
Sharp-shinned Hawk - 2
Red-tailed Hawk - 3
Rough-legged Hawk - 2
Red-shouldered Hawk - 2
American Kestrel - 6
Peregrine Falcon - 1
Also Hendrik had a MERLIN on the way to Fern Ridge on Green Hill Road. Two
TUNDRA SWANS flew over us while we were at the platform, which was mostly
duck-free except for a couple BUFFLEHEAD and a few RUDDY DUCKS.
