The arrival time at our place east of the Merlin I-5 exit is Feb at about this
time of the month, if indeed Rufous, they are a month early for here. Here's
what the Lady reporting the birds put in the e-bird report: "Rufous coloring
very evident and sound was that of males." The bright coloring does stand out
for sure.
For some reason, RCC is a place where many spring arrivals are found ahead of
other county locations. Perhaps more people looking? Dennis

Dennis,
Pretty darn early if you ask me? When do you typically see the first Rufous
at your place? Our earliest records on the south coast (Coos County anyhow) is
around the 27th of January but that was a single and just one year. Most years
no Rufous until the first or second week in February. I would double check on
the e-Bird report, I have inexperienced bird watchers tell me their Anna's are
Rufous all the time during the winter here.
Singing Bewick's Wren in the neighborhood today.
Merry pseudospring!
