Dear OBOLers,
Enjoying the view of a Red Tail Hawk from the
comfort of my living room couch. He/ she is sitting in a cottonwood tree on
the other side of Fanno Creek, near Scholls-Ferry Rd. A look through my
binoculars reveals a posture similar to a Cormorant with soggy wings! There
are only two Crows staked out in the tree, oh, he/she just took off. I see
one in this tree occaisionally. One winter there was one there regularly,
but that's been awhile.
There's a nice, wide river out in what is usually
a field next to the trail. So far there are only Mallards out there, but
the female Red-Breasted Nuthatch has been making frequent visits to the
suet. I hope the Townsend Warbler comes back. I used to get a female Downy
Woodpecker at the suet, but haven't seen one here in a couple years,
although they can be seen at times along the trail.
