A pair of PUMA visited West Ridge around 11am 5/17. The male approached the
NQW NAtural gas tower repeatedly while singing passionately . He didn't land
and his mate kept her distance. I then moved to the Burlington Northern tower
and found the male perched on a wooden pole nearby. Many Hammond's Flycatchers
on territory. Mountain Quail crowing briefly, which I had not heard on the Peak
before this year. Viola adunca in bloom many places, a native violet that
actually is purple! Along the service road going south near the campground were
yellow violets cheek by jowel with the purple ones.
