However, that vast trove of eBird records is heavily weighted to sightings
by people under 30 who have reported sightings in the last 15 years. That
trove knows little about what people now over 60 saw in the 150 years before
the youngsters were born.
And many checklists contain just a half-dozen common species, or duplicating
a friend's report, thus inflating the number of records, but adding little
to our store of knowledge.

True enough. But I would guess that eBird has more records than all other
collective records in recorded history. And if not yet it will soon.
