If it’s a nighthawk, Lesser is more likely in early April.

Hey all
While walking to work this morning at 3am, observed a medium sized bird with
sharp wings, flying erratically in close vicinity to a light post possibly
chasing insects. Too large for a bat. First impression was Common Night Hawk.
Watched for about 5 sec. and did not vocalize. I have had CONI before in this
area but never this early. I can’t think of any other bird that fits this
description other than much smaller swallow species. Anyone else seen CONI
this early? Any other possibilities?
Thanks and good birding
