Yesterday, 23 participants ran the Prineville CBC. We found 90 species which is two short of the record. We set high count records for Eurasian Collared-Dove (432), Belted Kingfisher (17), Mountain Chickadee (98), Harris's Sparrow (tied record of 2) and Tricolored Blackbirds (281). About 30% of the species showed below average numbers. About 46% of the species showed above average totals. About 24% were about average. Big misses included Tundra Swan (seen 21/30 years), Redhead (seen about half the time), Hooded Merganser (seen 28/30 years), Mountain Bluebird (seen 19/30 years), Evening Grosbeak (seen 18/30 years).
Thanks to all the volunteers. It was a very pleasant count. Chuck Gates OBOL archives: www.freelists.org/archive/obol Manage your account or unsubscribe: //www.freelists.org/list/obol Contact moderators: obol-moderators@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
