This is almost certainly a Western Canada Goose (B.c.mofitti) crossed with one
of the many breeds of domestic Graylag (Anser anser). With large number of
resident Canadas in the Willamette Valley one encounters these crosses all the
time. They may be fertile and back cross with mofitti or A.anser. For several
years there was a pair at Fern HIll Wetland in Forest Grove where one parent
was a Graylag so big and beefy it always amazed me to see it airborn. The other
parent was an ordinary Western Canada Goose. The offspring were abundant an
nearly as burly as the domestic goose parent. Marilyn Miller suggested it
belonged to a breed known as Embden. Some domestic Graylags are close to the
wild ancestor in size and not too different in appearance than a White-front.

Yesterday afternoon I photographed a Hybrid Goose and a Snow Goose flying by
with a flock of Canada Geese at Eagle Marsh at Ankeny NWR. I would
appreciate any information you might have on this type of Hybrid Goose.
