OBOL and Tweeters users: In support of a comprehensive national survey on
viewer (birding) interests and wetland conservation, a workshop will be held in
the Portland area on the evening of April 9, 2015. A total of 12 workshops
with viewers will be completed in key geographic locations across North America
to provide a diverse representation of important ecological characteristics and
social traditions of viewing opportunities. Separate workshops will be
conducted for waterfowl hunters. Results from the workshops will help to frame
questions for an upcoming national survey to help inform the North American
Waterfowl Management Plan.
Project organizers need about 12 participants for the Portland workshop. If
you are interested in participating in this workshop, please respond by email
to Brandon Reishus at brandon.s.reishus@xxxxxxxxxxx (Oregon) or Joe Buchanan at
Joseph.Buchanan@xxxxxxxxxx (Washington). Be sure to provide your name, contact
information, approximate age, and level of experience as a wildlife viewer in
wetland habitats. Please only respond if you would be able to participate on
April 9th and please be aware that not all interested people will be able to
participate.
The survey will be a collaborative effort of the member states of the National
Flyway Council, U.S. Geological Survey, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, Migratory
Bird Joint Ventures, Ducks Unlimited and other partners.
