Multiple falconers, making observations from the 60s to present, have
noted that all winter Prairie Falcons in the Willamette Valley are females. Or
"falcons" if you would, as opposed to tiercels. I started birding in Corvallis
in 1969, but didn't see a Prairie Falcon west of the Cascade summit until 2006
or 2007. Whatever year the Fairchilds found the Gyrfalcon at Inavale School on
the Corvallis CBC. One falconer based near Eugene told me of a day in September
when he saw seven PRFA between Eugene and Corvallis.
