Nice work!

It looks like this was a big project. The resources provided by ECAS
through community involvement is staggering.

I am astonished and grateful to have a link to my blog on the site. My job
now is to make sure I provide valuable/interesting content worthy of the
link.

Very best,

- Jack

For many years, the Oregon Birding Site Guide (Sponsored by the East
Cascades Audubon Society - ECAS) has offered instructions, guidance and
directions to over 1100 birding sites in Oregon. The old URL was
www.birdingoregon.info and many of you have this site bookmarked to help
guide you around the state. Alas, technology has caught up to that site
and it has not been functioning perfectly for sometime. ECAS decided to
revamp its website this year and the decision was made to migrate all of
the Birding Oregon Site Guide information to that new, revised site. This
solves a lot of headaches for ECAS, the managers of the Site Guide and our
web gurus. However, it creates a minor problem for all of you. Now you
will have to change your bookmarks to reflect the location of the new site.

Since we pay for the old site (www.birdingoregon.info) and the new site (
http://www.ecaudubon.org/), we will soon kill the old site to save
money. After the first of the year, you will no longer be able to access
the old site at the old location. Right now, if you Google "Birding
Oregon", our site guide is the first item to come up. I'm not sure how
this change in URL will effect that but I'll find out (I'll take info from
any knowledgeable sources out there.)

Here's what you need to do:

Go to the ECAS website at http://www.ecaudubon.org/

Find the tab at the top of the page labeled "Birding Oregon" and click on
it. You will see that we have separated the Site Guide from the
Checklists. You can click on the "Birding Locations" tab and bookmark the
new location of the site guide. You can then go back and bookmark the
checklists if you use those. That's it.

I do want to say that we have spent considerable time reviewing the
content of the checklists and site guide. Though this is an ongoing
process, we did fall behind on repairing dead links and such. Those have
all been remedied (If you find mistakes, please bring them to my
attention). Everything should be in working order. We have also added
some significant content to the site guide. When possible, we created a
link to every site that is also considered to be an eBird hotspot. Now you
can see a checklist for each hotspot just by clicking on the eBird link.
Other links and content have been added and a few new locations have made
it onto the site.

We apologize for the inconvenience but it's the nature of the beast. In
the future, we will likely have to do this again as technology evolves. I
hope it doesn't cause you too much grief and I welcome any comments and
suggestions. Enjoy the new sight guide and checklists at their new home.
