Hello all,
I forgot to mention something during my initial report of the OSU Bird
Nerds visit to Malheur NWR. A local rancher stopped his truck as we were
pulled over birding on Sodhouse Lane just east of the refuge headquarters.
He said he was "glad birders had not been scared off" due to the events of
the previous months. He was a very friendly gentlemen and very welcoming.
It really made our day to be so warmly and genuinely greeted by a member of
the local ranching community. Harney County really is a wonderful place.
Don't forget to support the local community when you're out there!
