I went to Nehalem Bay State Park today to not see the maybe,
kind of, sort of Slaty-backed Gull reported for there over the weekend.
I was hard pressed to find any gulls of any description. I think
I mis-timed the tide.
I also DID NOT see a Common Scoter. Once safely home among my
references, I was able to talk myself down. I saw a very funny
looking, but unequivocal BLACK SCOTER.
