Hi -
Paul's sighting confirms that there are now 2 Mockingbirds in the Newport area,
as another one was found by Terry Smith, Trent Bray, and others on the edge of
the dunes fronting the Southshore development. They spotted it while returning
from seeing the Laguhing Gull a short distance to the south.

in Newport on Dec. 16. Many people have since seen it with the latest

The mockingbird may have moved a short distance away or may be ranging
further from its original location because this morning (April 15) at
9 AM Paul wrote: "I just heard a bird in our yard doing trills,
chatters and even mimicking other birds. I went out and sure enough
the mockingbird was bouncing back and forth in our pine trees acting
like a lovelorn teenager. What a nice spring serenade. I wonder if
it’s the same bird we have been seeing? If so, it’s been four months
now."
