Hi,
Paul Reed first saw a Northern Mockingbird at NE 8th and Eads Street
in Newport on Dec. 16. Many people have since seen it with the latest
report on March 31 (see email with map below).
The mockingbird may have moved a short distance away or may be ranging
further from its original location because this morning (April 15) at
9 AM Paul wrote: "I just heard a bird in our yard doing trills,
chatters and even mimicking other birds. I went out and sure enough
the mockingbird was bouncing back and forth in our pine trees acting
like a lovelorn teenager. What a nice spring serenade. I wonder if
it’s the same bird we have been seeing? If so, it’s been four months
now."
Paul lives at 326 NE 11th Street.
