Actually, it's not the first time! In March of 2014, there were several
sightings by different parties of both Mountain and Western Bluebirds on
Powell Butte.
3/7/14 - 9 Westerns and 1 Mountain seen by Em Scattaregia
3/12/14 - 10 Westerns and 1 Mountain seen by me
3/22/14 - 3 Western and 5 Mountain seen by the Christopher and Adrian
Hinkle and Em Scattaregia
There might be more sightings of both than that but March of 2014 was a
particularly good year. And this year has just started so it may get
better in the next week or so.
It's also a good month to look for Shrikes, Say's Phoebes and Townsend's
Solitaires up there.

Mountain Bluebird at the top of the Hawthorne Trail and a flock of 4
Western Bluebirds of which at least 2 were banded. I have a pic of one
banded one, but the band is hard to read. If any bluebird researcher wants

The Sauvie Island Northern Mockingbird continues in his holly tree on Oak
Island Rd. and just south of him, a continuing Black Phoebe was calling and
tail bobbing this morning.
