(pardon the re-send: OBOL rejected the size of the owl photo, so here's
just the text.)
Hi all,
This a.m. Annet and I were up in the park. About 7:50 or so a
friendly gentleman named Bob turned us on to a Barred Owl he had found in a
bigleaf maple. After seeing that and getting some photos I looked up and
saw an intriguing overflyer. I was attracted to its size and "crow-like"
flight. Getting binos on it and having it in clear, detailed view for about
4, 5 seconds I immediately cried, "Lewis's Woodpecker!" ..a most unexpected
bird for Tabor, might well be a first park record, not sure.
The park was pretty birdy overall this a.m. and only made it around 1/3 of
my normal circuit.
good birding, Tom
