I started my morning at the Riverwalk Inn on the Astoria Waterfront
to follow up on the MOUNTAIN CHICKADEE report there. This is not a spot
where one would go looking for Mountain Chickadees. There are two pine
trees up against a concrete wall next to a blackberry patch full
of HOUSE SPARROWS. But sure enough, there are two Mountain Chickadees
in those pines...

I then went out to the South Jetty in search of errant nuthatches.
There were plenty of RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES including one that was
making calls that sounded (superficially) like White-breasted, but I
could not find any out of the ordinary nuthatches. I did, however,
find another MOUNTAIN CHICKADEE. Unfortunately, it was less cooperative
about photo-documentation.

I was also unable to re-locate the mystery passerine I reported on
from Saturday. There was a WHITE-THROATED SPARROW coming to the
seed I put out, though.
