Several people checked Benson Pond today and found only two standard-model Brown-headed cowbirds. However, the experience allowed us to more fully appreciate that elegant and successful native species, Brewer's Blackbird. Rumor of a Catbird at HQ today is all the vagracity I have heard of, except for a second-hand report of a Common Redpoll at Steens Mountain resort. I can't dismiss that because the valley is full of siskins. -- Alan Contreras Eugene, Oregon acontrer56@xxxxxxxxx I blog at: oregonreview.blogspot.com
