MFS is currently open only to law enforcement. Duncan is assessing damage
to the station (see details below). I expect it will be a few weeks before

Staff are again on site!
On Tuesday Jan 26, 2016 Malheur Field Station was visited by two Great
Basin Society Board members, Co-Director Duncan Evered and an OPB media
crew, to assess the status of the Station. The findings included one door
of an unoccupied staff house that had been forced open, which will require
a replacement door, and evidence of intrusion into one other building. No
missing property or other damage was noted. The winterization that had been
done prior to evacuation seems to have been totally successful, as no water
damage was noted.
This is good news, especially in light of the fact that trespassers had
been confronted at the Station a few days earlier by concerned private
citizens. The trespassers left immediately after the confrontation.
At this time, and for an unknown period of time, law enforcement personnel
are being housed at the Station.

MFS is now in use as housing for visiting law enforcement.
I have not heard whether the station is open to the usual birder rentals.
