This is amazing. It's easy to get hybrid fatigue when living in Oregon because
of the sapsucker situation. But this flicker is such an obvious hybrid and what
a photo. I never would have dreamed of the 50/50 tail this bird has. The face
is a similar fascinating equal opportunity mix: Red mustachials like a
Red-shafted, but brown face and gray crown/nape like a Yellow-shafted. Lars
