On Jan 30, a large throng of Bohemian Waxwings was feeding on juniper
berries along Leap Lane, in Wallowa County, near Lostine. One flock that
flew over me had about 750 waxwings, based on counting my photograph.
There was so much movement and activity that it was impossible to tell
how many waxwings there were. Occasionally, a large flock flew about for
while and settled back into the forest. This was just a little past the
Parsnip Creek Rd intersection with Leap Lane, in a mixed forest of large
ponderosa and juniper.
