I could not say it better. I am still somewhat new to OBOL and I use both the
WhatsApp and Telegram groups. I believe OBOL still serves a different and
needed purpose. I do hope it will continue. Thank you all for you time,

I am sorry to hear you want to step away, but you certainly earned the right
to do so. We each have to live our own life. I wish you all the best in

OBOL has been a source of information, shared enthusiasm, and a "community"
for so many of us. At the same time it has been a source of painful
conflict and irritation. We come to it with so many different takes on what
our shared interests fundamentally are. I think we have mellowed over time
and learned to respect one another's different takes on what we are or
should be about. Some people have opted out with hard feelings.
New technology has come along and a new generation is communicating in ways
that leave old timers behind. I hope that list-servs can continue; that
OBOL can continue. I've seen it go through several iterations already.
OBOL is a tool, an avenue of communication, but also a repository of
history. I think we still need that.
I hope we can find a new moderator that can carry on the role as you have
done, giving space for diverse voices, allowing some wiggle-room, and wisely
curbing the voices that go off-track.

OBOL,
I'd like to move away from moderating OBOL. However, there is no settled
process in place for allowing this to happen. The history here is that,
when the person running the list-serv wanted to leave, the list-serv would
dissolve and a whole new one had to be created. I think I was the 5th or
6th person to take on this task.
If there is a desire to continue having a state-wide email list, it would
be ideal if someone would start up a new list-serv altogether, so that I
can be separated.
Freelists has worked well for our purposes over the last 11 or 12 years. It
is truly free and there is no limit on the number of subscribers, but there
are other good platforms to choose from today as well, such as Groups.io,
WhatsApp, and Gmail.
I am sending this message also, separately, to the OBA Board, in the hope
that they might pick up on this and take the lead.
There is no rush. I am happy to stay on until this has been sorted out.
