Big Al – My friend, surly you have not forgotten that the Catlow Valley was
once an inland sea? Certainly you must have witnessed this? You remember –
the end of the last ice age, 15,000 years ago? The Catlow Valley was a vast
pluvial lake and we can still see the remains of the water levels on the
benches above the valley. Archeologists have found arrow and spear points
along these ancient shores. Tracing these benches is one of the things I
always do when I drive in and through the valley. And, the Malheur and Harney
Lakes are also remnants of these same post-glacial floods.
