My mom and I were at Boiler Bay by sunrise, but seawatching was slow. Peeps
were moving past at a small fraction of yesterday's barrage, though we
ended up counting just over eleven thousand. Our only bird of note was a
Snow Goose and one Greater White-fronted Goose embedded in a flock of
Double-crested Cormorants.
The south end of Siletz Bay had a few hundred shorebirds including an
unusual Wilson's Phalarope with several dowitchers.
In the afternoon we hiked Cascade Head. The east wind brought down a slow
trickle of swifts, swallows, pipits, and raptors, but nothing unusual.
Cheers,
Chris Hinkle
