Hi Janet Lamberson reports that she and Chuck Philo heard a "Sooty Grouse booming from the Lincoln County side of Grass Mountain on the morning of May 4. Among other birds also up there were some Western Bluebirds and a Townsend's Solitaire." Chuck adds that they also saw a Barred Owl. Chuck found a Cassin's Vireo today (5/8) in Toledo. Chuck also noted today that the Black Phoebe nest he had been monitoring in Toledo was abandoned by May 2 after it had been about 75% completed. Chuck noted that 2 crows were nearby when he visited it. After the nesting season, Tom & Allison Mickel reported what looked like a Black Phoebe nest under a bridge at Beaver Creek last year. But I know of no confirmed records of successful Black Phoebe nesting in Lincoln County. He was the only to have any Black Phoebe sightings in Lincoln County in April, and eBird so far does not have any Black Phoebe records for Lincoln County, so it is looking like they were widely reported in winter that they have become scarce and may even be absent. -- Range Bayer, Newport, Oregon OBOL archives: www.freelists.org/archive/obol Manage your account or unsubscribe: //www.freelists.org/list/obol Contact moderators: obol-moderators@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
