On Saturday, Nov 7, a first year RED-BREASTED MERGANSER was seen at
Putnam's Point, which is at the south end of Upper Klamath Lake
(Klamath Co.) where the lake goes under the bridge and becomes Link
River. On Nov. 11, a first year THAYER'S GULL was spotted by Dave
Haupt at the docks at Veteran's Park/Lake Ewauna, where it was hanging
out other gulls. Two WHITE-THROATED SPARROWs were seen near the pool
at Malin Park. Also present were about 7 CHESTNUT-BACKED CHICKADEEs at
Malin Park, and is the furthest south and furthest east I have ever
encountered that species in Klamath County. They are still being
reported in Klamath Falls town by several reporters. The birds I
observed at the park were Oregon Cascades subspecies which have
distinct chestnut colored flanks. I've heard WILD TURKEYS are being
seen on Easy Street in the Rocky Point area. Well no wonder.
