Thanks to those who confirmed the juvenile Black-crowned Night-heron at the Riley Pond from my photos. I appreciate it! Hi all, I was at the Riley Pond on Highway 20 this morning, returning from a Malheur weekend. There was a Black-crowned Night-heron that flew to some bushes beyond the pond. On its way, a smaller bird in the grasses stretched its head up toward it. At first I thought maybe Bittern from the profile and brown streaks but it really didn't seem big enough. When I was able to view my photos on the computer, I think it had to have been a juvenile Night-heron, but would appreciate some confirmation. I am sharing my not incredible pictures here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/orbirdsandtrails_160/8857958105/ Happy birding, Pam Otley Corvallis
