The angle from which the photograph was taken could be somewhat misleading in
regard to the tail length and wing length. See the various photographs of a
Great-winged Petrel from La Jolla, CA. One gives a similar profile to the bird
you photographed, while most appear to show a longer winged bird and one with a
longer tail.
