Alison, in the early 1970s I observed Common Nighthawks coming and going from a
commercial roof in central Eugene. I thought they were probably nesting there.
At that time some roofs had a decorative "mixed gravel" topping to them which
included various colors of small stones. I know of at least one successful
Killdeer nest on such a roof at a private residence in western Eugene in the
early 1970s. I don't think this kind of surface is used much any more in
general-purpose construction.

Hi OBOL community,
I am a grad student interested in any observations of vesper sparrows, common
nighthawks or horned larks on ecoroofs. Has anyone seen these birds using
ecoroofs (or standard roofs) for feeding/breeding/stopover purposes?
I'm focusing on Multnomah County but information from other counties/cities
is helpful as well.
Thanks so much,
Alison
