Hi, everyone
I was wondering if any of you knew of any good places to go birding near
Hood River in early March. We would mostly be interested in heading up Mt.
Hood or going out east, possibly as far as Pendleton. We don't have a
spotting scope, but we have a couple of good binoculars and some cameras
with magnification and focusing abilities good to about a half of a mile
away. It would be great to find some predominantly eastern Oregon species
that don't usually travel to the Willamette Valley, or some hard to find
woodpeckers like Black-backed, Three-toed, and White-headed! And for bonus
points, if anyone knows any good scorpion finding areas, I plan to be the
strange person in a public park at eleven o'clock at night flipping over
rocks and shining an ultraviolet light.
