With rain in the near future and trees leafing out, I decided to do the Harrisburg-Coburg Raptor Route today. Triskaidekaphobia may have hit many, as there was not much traffic. The day was perfect for viewing raptors. The high overcast created near perfect viewing conditions. There was no rain. Temperatures were very comfortable, from the mid fifties to low sixties. I drove 66.9 miles in 4 hours and 16 minutes. Kestrel and red-tail numbers were down from last month, but higher than they were last year in March. I found one Bald Eagle sitting on a nest, and a pair of kestrels attending a nest site. The female was hard at work at the nest cavity while the male kept watch.
