I have been waiting for more leaves to fall before doing a November raptor
survey.
Then I noticed that the UO football game would have beautiful weather and
started at 12:30 p.m. today in Eugene.
Hoping that most people would be watching the game at home or at the
stadium and the roads would be uncrowded,
I decided to start the survey today around noon.
I have never seen so little traffic during a raptor survey. The drivers
who were on the road were all very courteous.
I highly recommend this strategy when the elements align for it.

Temperature was in the 40s, with a light wind. The sky was clear.

The birds:
6 Red-tailed Hawk
20 American Kestrel
4 Northern Harrier
3 Bald Eagle

Also of note:

1 Turkey Vulture (riding the thermals by I-5 and the Coburg Hills)
