Yesterday 340 raptors south bound raptors entertained a total of 27
participants/visitors. Highlights included Bald Eagles cruising slowly by
and Merlins hurtling themselves past us. In the first three hours there
were more humans than birds then from 1:00 until 6:00 moderate winds from
the west opened up the flood gates and the raptors did flow forth.
Afternoon birds flew at medium heights along the west side affording great
looks at many accipiters with full crops. Temps from mid 50s to low 60s
under mostly sunny skies provided good visibility. There were high numbers
with rather low species diversity.
