I revisited this site for about 40 minutes in the rain about noon. I found
4 White-throated Sparrows together in the blackberries. No Swamp Sparrow.

Subject: Swamp Sparrow on Grand Island
Swamp Sparrow sightings in Yamhill county are few and far between.
Floyd Schrock saw one at the end of Greenacres Rd in Oct. 2003.
Don Albright saw one near Dayton Dec. 2017.
Then Bill Tice found one on Grand Island Jan 9, 2019.
Location: Upper Island Road makes a loop around the south end of Grand
Island. Across The road from the state park, on the inside of the loop,
there is a field. For about 0.7 mi there is a strip of weeds between the
road and that field (queen anne's lace, thistle, etc). It has lots of Song
sparrows, some White-throated sparrows, and others. Bill found the Swamp
Sparrow about two utility poles back toward the bridge from the park.
I went there with Bill Jan 10 for 3+ hours. We did not find a Swamp
Sparrow.
I went there Jan 19 for 3+ hours. I found lots of sparrows at the driveway
into a field 0.25 mi east of the park, on the south side of the road. I saw
a White-throated Sparrow. I put down seed. I did not find a Swamp Sparrow.
I went there Jan 21 for 3+ hours. I put down more seed at the driveway
into a field 0.25 mi east of the park, on the south side of the road. I saw
a White-throated Sparrow. I did not find a Swamp Sparrow.
Good luck, if you go looking,
