There were several of us looking for the Gabriel Park vagrants this morning. I
spent about an hour (08:30-09:45) and, finally, about 09:30 heard a PYGMY
NUTHATCH vocalize from the upper part of the group of pines on the NE side of
the Benevento (= western/lower) baseball field. This is where Ed McVicker
reported them Wednesday afternoon - between the ballfield and the parking area
with the Blue Spruces. The four asthmatic whistles were surprisingly loud, and
so clear that over in central Oregon one would immediately just note the
species and move on. We found no Mountain Chickadees though with patience they
surely must still be around.

It seems that patience is key – one just has to Sitta around…

Other species included BLACK-CAPPED CHICKADEES, COMMON BUSHTITS, flyover
EVENING GROSBEAKS, SONG SPARROW, ANNA’S HUMMINGBIRD, flyover PINE SISKINs,
NORTHERN FLICKER, BEWICK’S WREN, and DOWNY WOODPECKER.
