Yesterday I got a chance to seawatch at Boiler Bay from 8:30-9 a.m. There were
no tubenoses or small alcids, but there was a large number of birds in a
feeding frenzy close in, Hundreds of pelicans, probably a thousand murres, a
few loons, mostly flying by, Western Grebes, and a horde of gulls, many
Heermann's. Pretty spectacular, as many of the the birds were massed in large
active groups in the water, others were wheeling about in the air, and the
ruckus was attracting many more flying in from different points.
