Hi birders,
I poked around Florence a bit today, in sunshine! It was nice to run into a
couple of other birders out and about, too.
Three EARED GREBES were floating by Old Town, but no sign of any
Long-tailed Ducks. One NORTHERN SHRIKE was hunting the dunes along South
Jetty Road. A young GLAUCOUS GULL was at the South Jetty crab dock cove
(photo here <http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist?subID=S27345819>), and
at least one BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKE was feeding off the end of the jetty.
Later, I had point-blank views of another KITTIWAKE bathing with the gulls
at the mouth of Bob Creek.
On my way home, I stopped at the East Coyote Unit of Fern Ridge and watched
about 20 TREE SWALLOWS in a swirling flock. Spring is coming!
Good birding,
Noah Strycker
