I attached the photo to my email, I received it as an attachment in my bcc
copy to myself, but I have received email responses that it did not show up
from an OBOL subscriber, and it is not showing up as an attachment lin

Hi,
A female Redpoll is irregularly and unpredictably showing up at
feeders in the north Toledo area. Chuck Philo first saw it at his
feeders on Jan. 25 as posted to OBOL below.
Chuck had not seen it again until Feb. 21 at the same area of NW
Spruce Street at his feeders, and he and Janet Lamberson saw it also
on Feb. 22. Janet reported it as a Common Redpoll in her eBird
report, part of which is below:

- Comments: "Perched quietly in tree, good long look at strongly
notched tail, small bill (much smaller than house finch) and reddish
forehead, pale supercilium. Familiar with this species from years
living in New Jersey"
But it is very unpredictable in appearing, sometimes with Pine Siskins
and sometimes not. Janet Lamberson on Feb. 23 unsuccessfully spent
over an hour trying to find it for a second time, and Wayne Hoffman
also unsuccessfully spent 1.5 hr looking for it. So the chance of
seeing it is not good. Chuck last saw it on Feb. 22, in spite of
diligently looking for it since then. It may be going to other
feeders in this general area.
Chuck thinks it might be a Common Redpoll, and one of Chuck's several
Feb. 22 photos is attached below. Thanks to Wayne for cropping,
resizing, and relaying on Chuck's photos to me. Wayne comments that
he thinks that from these two photos that it is a Common, but that it
is hard to be completely sure.
P. 533 of Sibley's Guide to Birds about Common and Hoary Redpolls
indicates that "Some females can be nearly identical". In the photos,
it appears the sun was shining brightly on its underside, so that
details are washed out.

This afternoon at about 1 PM, Chuck Philo saw a female Common Redpoll
coming to a feeder along with House Finches & Pine Siskins in Toledo.
If it shows any regularity in returning, Chuck will report it again
along with directions on where to see it.
