I met Dave on a KBO field trip in the Cascades that was led by Russ Namitz.
It was quite a birding day for me as a fledgling birder. A friend and I
called this trip the Triple Crown of Birding because Russ led us to see a
Northern Spotted Owl, Great Gray Owl, and a Northern Goshawk... not too
shabby getting these 3 birds in one day! Equally as much fun was when we
met Dave... Russ and Dave stood in the middle of a gravel road pointing and
ID'ing bird after bird call, none of which I knew... my head was spinning
as this show went on for some time... I was amazed at their birding skills.
Best wishes for you, Dave, and hope Alabama appreciates your bird knowledge
like Oregon does.
