Here's a website showing the tracking of Great Egrets that were satellite
tagged in north San Francisco Bay. This particular Egret was the exception
- most stayed close to home. But this one took off to So Cal, then east to
the Colorado River, down the river to the Gulf all the way to Guaymas.
Then it followed the river system up into the Sierra Madres, switched at
the top to the San Pedro and headed to Dudleyville and onwards.
From blowing up the Dudleyville section, I can identify the exact pond that
it spent at least several days before moving on. I've birded that pond.
Then it went up to the Mogollon Rim and westward, cutting through the west
Grand Canyon to Vegas. From there it headed to the Sierras, and crossed
north of Death Valley into the Owens Valley.
