[obol] Eagle nest sites and Netarts Wind turbine approval

OBOL,

Last Thursday the Tillamook County Planning Commission approved the placement
of 4 wind turbines on the property of the Schooner restaurant in the Netarts
Boat Basin. These will be Skystream 3.7 turbines, each 45 feet tall. These
units are very noisy. (An identical turbine in place in Hood River Oregon can
be heard and seen on youtube).
This is a concern for the birds of the area. Unfortunately, the Oregon
Department of Fish and Wildlife decided that there would be minimal impact on
the birds of the area; the reason given was that the closest known eagle nest
is one mile from the proposed turbine site.
Does anyone know of an eagle nest close to Netarts bay? If so, please reply
offline.
An appeal has been filed. Unfortunately the appeal hearing is this coming
Wednesday morning, at 10:30 am, at the Tillamook County Courthouse. Any citizen
may attend and give testimony.
