We birded the Pole Creek burn in 2 spots, off the Park Meadow Trail and
later, off Black Pine Springs. Locations will be noted on the list. We
found several pairs of Black-backed. One pair had a cavity and was actively
feeding. Other pairs seemed to be drumming and working on setting up a
territory. No other woodpeckers were found except Flicker and we had one
candidate for female Williamson's. Thanks to Mariena for ebirding several
times during the morning. Birders today: Mariena Swarens, Kermit Williams,
Cyndy Wicker and Kent Jacobs, Steve Wilkins, Ted and Susan Groszkiewicz,
Cathy Beck, Howard Horvath, Sherrie Pierce, Mike Golden, Judy Meredith.
Next week, more woodpecker searches. Keep those old clothes handy.
