not just out getting exercise and accidentally finding a Say’s Phoebe.
Thanks also for the heads up about the cemetery. That sounds like a good
alternative spot to check.

This morning Shawneen and I spent two hours in the general neighborhood where
the Dusky Thrush was seen. We were joined by Em Scattaregia. We walked the
neighborhoods east and a little north of Metzger Elementary School. The only
concentration of robins that we found was on the athletic field at the school.
Our high count was 48, but the birds seemed to be coming going throughout the
morning. One of the local residents told us that there were a lot more robins
using field a week or so ago before the weather turned.
It is probably unfortunate that the general area of this sighting didn’t become
known sooner, as it seems likely that the thrush, which was seen associating
with robins, could have been seen at least occasionally on this large grass
field.
We did have a Say’s Phoebe make a brief appearance around the garden plots at
the northwest corner of the athletic field right along Locust St. We were in
the area from 7:20AM until about 9:25. The phoebe was seen for about a minute
or so about 8:30 then disappeared.
We found no berry trees or any obvious food source (other than the worm-filled
lawn) that might attract a flock of robins.
