Howdy!
I found a Dipper foraging in Balch Creek this afternoon, a couple hundred
yards upstream of the first big footbridge if you start at the Lower
Macleay Trailhead under the Thurman St. Bridge.
It was totally silent for the 10 minutes I watched it, and could be
difficult to refind when I looked away. It was later refound by other
birders. As far as I know, the last Balch Creek dipper was Andy's in 2011,
although they have sporadically been seen at Audubon.
A fun bird to add to the motorless list! Hope it sticks around a bit.
Good birding,
Brodie
